The Economist Documentary

Arcaea was recently part of a documentary filmed and produced by The Economist. This was followed up by a screening of the documentary hosted by Brown Advisory last month in NYC to discuss implications on the industry as a whole. The documentary itself uses effective explainers on how this technology works, even speaking bluntly about the use of gene editing (rather than trying to soften or skirt around it). The overall angle is sustainability focused with a hint at future possibilities. We are honored to be featured alongside great company and glad to have this educational content out there for industry, journalists, and consumers alike. Watch the documentary here. We hope you enjoy it!

Documentary Screening in NYC
In October, Brown Advisory graciously hosted a screening of the documentary as part of their Female Founders Showcase. The discussion was moderated by Brown Advisory Partner, Elise Liberto, part of the Private Equity group, and joined by Suzanne Lee, the founder of one of my favorite conferences, BioFabricate. You can watch a recording of the discussion here. The discussion started with a level set on the state of the industry, where things currently come from, how the existing slate of technologies evolve and how they are to be contrasted with biology. We also covered how companies are performing in the space and how consumer and investor perception is continuing to evolve over time. One big area of discussion was around the cost and whether customers across the value chain would pay a premium for sustainability. Our point of view here is that biology presents much more potential than just sustainability that easily could justify a premium, such as higher standards of performance and entire new product categories that were previously inaccessible.

Thank you for following our journey.
Hope you have a great holiday weekend.
